Effect of the War
The civil war that befalls Liberia is unprecedented in the history of the West Africa. All Liberians, regardless of economic status, religion or tribal affiliations were affected by violence destructions and human right abuses. The infrastructures of the nation, its economy, social system, moral values and culture of the people were severely damaged. The civil war traumatized the minds of our children, the future leaders. Progress made prior to the civil war in molding the minds of our children has been substantially paralyzed. Consequently, the children of Liberia who were once in good care by their parents are now roaming the streets of Liberia with no care. There are children without parents (Orphans or semi orphans), many abused, neglected, homeless and worse of all without Christ Jesus.
Justification
In Liberia today, about 85% of our children are without quality care because of lack of assistance. What we feel are available are not sufficient to carry on for all the needy. It is expected as we have started that every street and area of higher concentration of loose children will be visited during the program. Thus, the faster we get closer to them, the easier their worries will go into control for the future.
Notwithstanding, this program is different from other children’s program in that it is Christ-Centered (Colossians 3:17). Our emphasis is on witnessing by example, which we believe is the best means of ministering to our children who have either been physically, emotionally, verbally or mentally abused or neglected in some manner.
We will promote a national goal of public awareness information with the development and utilization of available human resources and improved conditions for our children. Then when they shall have grown up, they will be fully empowered to live a Christ-like life.
Location of the program
Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa
Goals/Objectives
- To provide quality care to those children who have either been physically, emotionally, verbally, or mentally abused or neglected in some form or manner.
- To provide sponsorship for quality education, medical and dental care, clothing, etc.
- To tell them about Christ Jesus, and teach them to set example in our environment.
- To provide counseling for our children at their specific homes, various children centers and the church.
- To teach the message of peace and reconciliation thus, keeping away malice from among our traditional children.
- To help stimulate the integration of child right facilities within our country.
To help look for sponsor(s) to assist in meeting basic physical and spiritual needs of a child per month in an effort to mold the mind of the child.
Target Beneficiaries
Our initial target beneficiaries shall range from 75 to 150 war-wearied children who are either without parents (orphans – both father & mother died or semi orphans – either the mother or father is dead), abused, neglected, homeless and worse of all without Christ Jesus starting with the members of Abide in the Vine Fellowship – Liberia.
This program will empower all boys and girls through several means, and assist every one of them to live a standard Christian life. Thus, during the implementation of this program, approximately 85% of the registered children would have recognized and realized the danger of been without Christ or been on the street. Our group work with our children would have caused many voluntary individuals, corporations, organizations, and concerned citizens to join us and bless us, as part of psychological transformation is also our national goal.
Sustainability
Support funds, donations and funds generated through fund raising will be distributed among the children to be sponsored. The program shall also endeavor to help secure other income generation programs and funds generated from such sources will directly be used for the continuation of the program.
Program Administration, Finance Monitoring and Reporting
The direct program workers shall be the coordinator and his team of volunteers who will mange the program under the auspices of Abide in the Vine Fellowship – Liberia Governing Elders. Abide in the Vine Fellowship – Liberia finance department will mange the finances and make quarterly report to donors through Bridge of Hop Ministries, USA.
