SYW Day 2: Education

Watch Today’s Video

Ecclesiastes 7:11-12

11Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing
and benefits those who see the sun.
12Wisdom is a shelter
as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
Wisdom preserves those who have it.

Proverbs 4:13

13Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;
guard it well, for it is your life.

Psalm 34:8-14

8Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

Discuss & Reflect

The Bible is full of references to the importance of learning: of training up children in the ways of the Lord, and growing in wisdom as we walk closer in step with Christ. God puts very high value on instruction, and expects us as Christians to share our hard-earned wisdom and the truth we know about Him with others.

  1. Who is someone that you would consider wise? Why do you think they are wise?

  2. What is something that you have learned about the Christian life that you would like to share with new believers?

  3. Talk about your favorite teacher or professor. What made them so good at what they do?

  4. Why do you think education is so important to the ministry of One Body One Hope?
