Through church planting and partnerships, the gospel is taking root in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

A Movement of Faith, Rooted in Relationship

If you’ve been around One Body One Hope for long, you know Emmanuel Bimba. His vision for planting gospel-centered churches across Liberia has always been at the heart of our ministry—and God is bringing that vision to life.

What began in 2007 as a single congregation in Dunbar Farm has grown into a sisterhood of 38 Abide in the Vine Disciples’ Church locations across Liberia and Sierra Leone. These churches are more than Sunday gatherings—they’re the spiritual, relational, and developmental hubs of their communities.

Quick Stats about Church Growth

  • 38 Total AVDC churches (35 in Liberia and 3 in Sierra Leone)

  • Churches in 9 of 15 Liberian counties

  • Churches in 3 of 4 provinces in Sierra Leone

  • 11 churches need a permanent structure to worship in

  • 3,000 total active church members

  • 2,000 sporadic rhuch attendees

Why Local Leadership Matters

The Abide in the Vine Disciples’ Church (AVDC) network is led by 29 pastors and 8 evangelists—all indigenous leaders trained to serve their communities with cultural integrity and theological clarity.

This model works because it’s local: AVDC leaders know the languages, customs, and challenges of their people. And through ongoing training, accountability, and prayer, they are equipped to stand firm in a culture struggling with prosperity gospel distortions, broken family systems, and spiritual disconnection.

Where the Church Gathers, New Life Begins

AVDC churches are active, relational, and central to their communities:

  • Weekly rhythms include 4 gatherings: Sunday worship, Tuesday discipleship, Thursday Bible study, and Saturday youth services

  • Churches take regular offerings for evangelism and church planting

  • Many congregations still meet in unfinished or makeshift structures

  • Pastors often serve with little or no pay, yet the gospel continues to spread

Two Ways to Support the Church

Sponsor a Pastor – $200/month

Your monthly gift helps provide a livable wage, training, and stability for an AVDC pastor and their family.

Build a Church – $10,000 one-time

Help one of our congregations purchase land and construct a permanent building for worship and community gatherings.

Everything Flows from the Church

Our mission homes, schools, microfinance programs, and Harbel Farm all flow from the local church. This is where transformation starts—with the gospel alive in community. Support the heart of it all. Support the Church.
