Adoption Opens in Liberia

Hi, friends. As you may or may not be aware, Liberia is now open for international adoptions. Knowing that this development was in the pipeline for some time, we have been in conversation with Pastor Emmanuel for several months now regarding his hopes and intentions concerning the adoption of kids within the Abide in the Vine Disciples' Church and One Body One Hope family. Here are a few things you should know about what we believe and how we will go forward:

1.) Our goal is always Christ-centered evangelism and the redevelopment of a strong Liberia. We exist as an organization to partner with our Liberian friends in carrying out the vision God has laid on their hearts and the calling he has laid on their lives. This includes investing deeply in Liberia’s greatest resource, its children.

2.) In order to honor these deeply held beliefs, we will only be pursuing international adoption for children within the AVDC/OBOH family whose pressing medical needs cannot be met in Liberia. The children in the AVDC/OBOH family who are not medically needy are healthy, happy, plugged into their community, and thriving. We plan to keep it that way.

3.) We currently have a few specific cases of long-term residents at Christ Our Hope who we are seeking both prayer for as well as consideration for adoption. These children are older kids with medical needs and also a sibling group. For the protection of these kids we love so much, actual profiles will only be shared with serious parties. Serious inquiries should be directed to the president of One Body One Hope, Aaron Baart, at aaron.baart@dordt.edu.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and support of these kids we love so much! ‪#‎spendyourself‬
