The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Discuss & Reflect
The Great Commission is probably one of the most well known passages of scripture. And when Jesus says “Go and make disciples,” our Liberian friends take him very seriously. Emmanuel Bimba’s dream is to have an anchor church planted in every single Liberian county so that the gospel can continue to grow in the midst of Muslim communities and unreached people groups. We love helping him achieve this in any way we can!
Sometimes the Great Commission can be intimidating. Most of us don’t have big stories about times we converted and baptized an unbeliever. But God still works through us! Share a time when you extended the love of Christ to someone who may not know him.
How can you be the hands and feet of Christ in your community? Be specific. Perhaps even make a family plan to act on something you discuss.
Never underestimate the power of prayer! Most of us cannot join Emmanuel and his team as they travel throughout rural Liberia to isolated communities. But we can partner with them in prayer. Add the needs of the growing Liberian church to your permanent prayer list.
Did you know our Liberian friends pray for YOU? In fact, they fast and pray several times a year asking God to bless the work of your hands and to continue to use you to accomplish his will in Liberia and beyond. Take a moment to thank God for your Liberian friends and their love for you!
