Program Spotlight: Churches & Evangelism
Fifteen years ago there was one Abide in the Vine Disciples' Church (AVDC) at Dumbar Farm (a suburb of the capital city of Monrovia).
But the Holy Spirit has given Pastor Emmanuel Bimba a passionate heart for evangelism, and today there are 27 churches in seven of the Liberian counties!
Reverend Dan De Groot has faithfully traveled to Liberia over several years to complete the Timothy Training Program to prepare and equip the church leaders for ministry.
Now, the pastors of these churches plan to target the remaining eight Liberian counties in the spring of 2023--and after that they hope to create a home base in each of the 85 townships.
Recently, a group in Sierra Leone asked to come under AVDC leadership, and we are all exploring that exciting possibility.
Emmanuel is especially enthusiastic about planting churches now because he believes that a false "health and wealth" prosperity gospel has infiltrated many communities in Liberia and throughout all of West Africa. This false gospel leads people away from Christ instead of into the wholeness of the sacrificial good news.
