Program Spotlight: Children's Homes
One Body One Hope began as a child sponsorship program for the 35 children that Emmanuel and Fatu Bimba were caring for after the Liberian civil war. We felt blessed to be given an opportunity to meet the physical needs of these kids who had experienced so much loss, but our goal from day one was to work ourselves out of a job. Our desire has always been to encourage and equip our Liberian friends to rebuild and redevelop their own country so that someday there is no need for children's homes in Liberia.
We are still a ways from that goal, but we are thrilled to share that the homes we support (Christ Our Hope, Christ Our Hope North, and Abundant Life) are recognized as the best in the country. We strive to provide holistic support that goes beyond food and shelter so that these children have hope and a future.
And now, fifteen years deep into ministry, we are seeing the fruit of that labor as our kids are growing up, going to college and trade school, and marrying and starting families of their own. Around 150 orphaned and at-risk children find safe haven in our homes, and are beginning to launch their own lives as they seek to transform Liberia.
