Program Spotlight: Agriculture
It's been nearly a decade since our Liberian friends approached us with their bold dream to plant a commercial farm near the Harbel branch of AVDC. But long before they started clearing the jungle by hand, God was moving ahead of this endeavor and stirring the hearts of farmers and agriculturalists on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Thanks to the Lord's faithfulness, the AVDC farm continues to mature! The bridge that was first erected in 2016 was rebuilt this year, and a palm oil processing plant is being added to the compound.
We employ 27 people full-time (including our fearless leaders Joe and Varney), and are learning so much about the crops produced on site (corn, rice, cassava, cocoa, palm, and plantain) as well as livestock husbandry (goats, pigs, and chickens).
Currently our profits come from palm oil and goat sales. But even more exciting than the livestock and crops is the fact that the AVDC farm community has also formed a new church congregation. We are so thankful for God's faithful provision at the farm, and can't wait to see this ministry continue to grow!
