Commodity Gifting This Fall

"If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will shine in the darkness and your night will become like the noonday." Isaiah 58:12

What?

A farm commodity is a wonderful way make a difference in the lives of hardworking Liberian men, women and children. This donation may also be an opportunity to reduce your taxes if you are an operating, materially participating farmer (not applicable to crop-share land-lord).

Why?

Your participation in the ministry of One Body One Hope through a commodity gift will directly impact our agricultural program. We are proud to be raising up farmers to provide for the people of Liberia! Your gift may also benefit you by reducing your income and self-employment tax obligations. Even if you itemize deductions and are reporting other gifts up to or exceeding the allowable deductible amount for the tax period, your commodity gift may be financially advantageous. You do not need to be an "itemizer" to benefit from your gift, and a business deduction may be claimed for production costs, regardless of whether they occured in current or prior years.

How?

  • This fall, One Body One Hope will be taking commodity donations. Please contact your elevator for details.

  • Please have the buyer enclose the following items with the check: a scale ticket, auction receipt, or any other documentation of the transaction.

  • Upon receipt, we will inform you that the transaction was completed. \A charitable deduction is not to be claimed for this donation because the reduction in income fully accounts for the gift.

  • Consult your financial tax advisor to determine how this gift applies to you.
