Medical Sponsorship Program
Dear Sponsors and Friends of One Body One Hope,
As you may remember, on January 12 a small team of OBOH board members and sponsors will be traveling to Liberia. Part of our trip is going to be dedicated to kicking off our new Medical Program. A portion of your Child Sponsorship donation has always gone to cover some basic health care needs such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, first aid supplies and some malaria medications. However, since our trip in January of 2012, God has made it quite evident that we need to do more for some of these children. A few of the kids have sickle cell anemia, eye problems, or, like Eve, other serious ailments. Preventative care is something that Emmanuel and Julie have been working on over the last year. Emmanuel has said that: “We can work to educate these orphans to be Christian leaders for Liberia, but if they cannot grow to be healthy adults, it is all in vain.”
Through God's leading, we are hoping hire a nurse named Sarah who will go to the orphanage once a week to check on the children, especially those with medical conditions. She will make sure the daily vitamins and supplements are given, and that fevers, diarrhea, cuts, malaria and anything else that comes up will be promptly addressed so that the children do not get too sick. In a country where there are few health care professionals and education is limited, it is truly by the grace of God that we have found a nurse who already knows these children and is willing to fill this position.
We are excited to announce that we are starting a Medical Sponsorship Program much like our Educational Sponsorship Program to cover our costs for employing a nurse and the greater medical expenses of some of these children. Our goal is to raise $200/month. We are asking for Medical Sponsors to step forward and give what they can: $20/month, $50/month, or whatever God lays on your heart. If this is something that you are interested in, please shoot us an email (onebodyonehope@gmail.com). We will send you an automatic withdrawal form to make the donation process as simple as possible.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Sincerely,
Julie Bajema
